Healthy volunteers of a study had to ingest a serving of nuts, Brazil nuts to be precise, for the purpose of seeing the effects of it on their cholesterol levels.
Ten individuals were included in the research, 5 were male and the 5 female. They consumed just one meal that contained 0, 1, 4, or 8 Brazil nuts.
They arrived to the conclusion that with just one serving their cholesterol levels were immediately improved.
LDLi.e. the bad cholesterol was reduced merely 9 hours after eating the Brazilian nuts. And by the end of the day almost 20 points.
This is unexpectedly quick since even meds do not have that fast effect. Actually, the statins require 4 days in order to notice the right effect.
Nevertheless, it doesn’t end there. The research measured the cholesterol of the volunteers after 5 days and after a month.
Have in mind that the volunteers didn’t eat Brazilian nuts during that period. They just had that one serving of Brazil nuts, when the research started.
Their cholesterol remained low even after a month had passed!
Based on experience, consuming just 4 Brazil nuts is sufficient to enhance your levels of good and bad cholesterol for an entire month. This might even go on for longer than that, however it is still not proven.
When a study such as this is in question, it sounds too good to be true which makes people suspicious.
However, if you want to try this out remember that this is something that is simple, harmless, cheap and healthy as well.
It is healthy to eat Brazil nuts once a month. Of course, you cannot rely entirely on the nuts, but as something additional is not harmful if you wish to try to eat them for a month.
Based on the results, just one serving was sufficient since it leaves no chance to produce toxicity affecting the kidney and liver.
